Activities and Well-being

Entertainment, Activities and Positive Attitude

Our activity co-ordinator arranges activities and the entertainment programme during the week. Participation is optional and all residents are included in the way they want to be.

We offer a wide range of activities designed to encourage residents to keep mobile and, most importantly, keep an interest in life. Of course, activities take into account our residents as individuals – their interests, skills, experiences and personalities, as well as any medical condition.

Residents may dip into activities as and when they want to.

Although this isn’t an exhaustive list we arrange the following activities on a regular basis:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Hand Massages
  • Parties and special meals to suite all seasons
  • Outings by mini bus
  • Summer parties and events
  • Chatting to individual residents
  • Going for walks
  • Manicures
  • Armchair exercises and Flexercise activities
  • Reading letters/magazines/newspapers
  • Helping to choose library books
  • Music and sing alongs
  • Videos
  • Talks on points of local interest
  • Maintaining life-long hobbies, crossword puzzles etc

Outings

All outings are tailored to a resident’s needs and capabilities.

Outings could include:

  1. A drive around the countryside
  2. Visit to a garden centre
  3. Visit to a pantomime or play
  4. Drive into town or village

Visitors

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at all times and they are encouraged to participate in the resident’s daily routine, as far as is practicable.

The grounds at Netherclay are beautiful – as is the surrounding countryside. Residents and relatives can make use of this idyllic environment: we are a stone’s throw from river Tone and in the gardens there are flower beds which could be tended. Equally, though, a cup of tea and a chat in one of our social rooms is also an option!
